What We Do
The settlement industry – not to be confused with the insurance industry - consists of brokers and providers (buyers) of life insurance policies on the secondary market.
With 13 years in this business daily, Innovative Settlements™ has gained the overall knowledge needed to navigate this market in an efficient and most effective way. It is important to note that we are not a huge brokerage service – we are, by choice, a boutique brokerage, preferring to take extreme care and time with each case we work. As a result of this exclusivity, we are able to offer a level of personal service that most other companies cannot.
The type of company you choose is a personal preference – some people prefer to use large companies while others prefer the personal touch of a boutique brokerage such as Innovative Settlements. The choice is yours and I urge you to do what you feel most comfortable with.
Each provider company has specific criteria including: parameters regarding age and health of the insured, regulatory & licensing issues, policy type, preferences and restrictions, financing requirements, who evaluates and establishes life expectancies. Each company has its own pricing models too.
Since not every settlement company seeks out the same policies it is imperative to maintain good relationships with many different provider companies and to understand which case will be most attractive to each different one. This is the best if not the only way to be assured that the policy is sold for the most competitive price.
Our personal experience enables us to recognize which cases are preferred by which companies and select appropriately when submitting each case. This also results in the obvious - more deals are closed.
By treating a qualified life insurance policy as personal property, we create a competitive bidding situation, similar to an auction among qualified, reputable buyers and negotiate the highest possible cash settlement, (alwayshigher than any cash value). Ownership, all rights and obligations including premium payments are assigned to a new owner in exchange for the cash settlement.
Once a Life Settlement is obtained the cash may be used for any purpose at all. Policy sellers often invest in new financial products or more insurance.
